Remote Technical Writer

We are seeking experienced Technical Writers to support documentation initiatives for a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) environment. This role will partner with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop, maintain, and improve operational, process, and system documentation in a manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate has strong technical writing capabilities, experience documenting manufacturing processes, and the ability to quickly understand complex workflows within an MES-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain technical documentation, including:
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Work Instructions
    • Process Documentation
    • System Documentation
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to gather technical and operational information.
  • Document MES-related processes, workflows, and system activities.
  • Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, concise, user-friendly, and aligned with quality requirements.
  • Support ongoing MES implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to document control and quality system processes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 4+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Experience creating SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in documenting technical and operational processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or regulated environment.
  • Exposure to medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries.
  • Knowledge of document control processes and quality systems.
  • Experience supporting system implementations or process improvement initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Opcenter MES strongly preferred.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
