Job Details

The Mental Health Assessment Specialist is responsible for completing mental health intake assessments and follow up assessments for individuals confined in the Denton County Jail. The employee is responsible for completing inmate patient mental health records and clinical profiles within County guidelines. The employee also provides individual and group counseling services. Examples of Duties Performs specialized detention work in the care and security of inmates to ensure their constitutional rights and welfare are safeguarded in the County Jail. Provides confidential evaluations of inmate and crisis counseling as needed for inmates, either during or after office hours. Conducts suicide screening and prevention. Responds to inmate request forms or staff requests in a timely manner. Researches information in order to answer requests; keeps health and legal records of inmates.
