Job Description

Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies, and tests firmware, diagnostics, simulators, and emulators for HPE Slingshot™ high‑performance networking ASICs and boards. HPE Slingshot is a modern, high‑performance interconnect used in large‑scale HPC and AI clusters, delivering industry‑leading bandwidth, low latency, and scalability for demanding workloads. It implements Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) capabilities and aligns with the Ultra Ethernet standard, helping define and deliver next‑generation Ethernet semantics optimized for HPC and AI at scale. In this role, the engineer contributes directly to the product definition, implementation, and bring‑up of NIC and switch firmware and diagnostics, working closely with ASIC, board, and software teams in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional, multi‑site Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and is responsible for all stages of design, development, and test for complex products, solutions, and platforms.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides technical expertise along with the overall architecture design and platform leadership to cross‑organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Provides leadership of project team of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high‑quality solutions for prototypes and products.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members to set an example of design and development innovation and excellence.
  • Participates in and provides input on process for selection of future technical leaders.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the ASIC firmware, diagnostic, simulation and emulation organization.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of experience in driver and firmware design, implementation, and test.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expert C programmer and Python in a Linux environment with at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Expert level analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Working level knowledge of designing drivers and firmware.
  • Working level knowledge of NIC, Ethernet, and SERDES development and debug experience.
  • Working level knowledge of switch development and debug experience.
  • Working level knowledge of software programming and scripting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English.
