SHEET METAL FABRICATOR (PLTX)
Bowhead seeks a Sheet Metal Fabricator to join ourManufacturing and Products Groupteam in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong fabrication and welding experience, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to quality and safety. This role requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and adjust fabrication equipment including press brakes, laser cutter, slip rollers, band saws, and drill presses.
Program and operate press brakes and rollers as required.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and finish/welding symbols to fabricate parts accurately.
Perform welding and fabrication operations to meet company and customer specifications.
Ensure all fabricated products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards.
Follow Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, including proper documentation and process compliance.
Maintain workflow in alignment with the production schedule and delivery timelines.
Perform accurate material layouts, measurements, and calculations.
Communicate project progress and any issues to management.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, technical certification a plus.
Minimum three to five (3-5) years of experience in custom sheet metal manufacturing.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Solid understanding of GD&T principles.
Proven welding (Mig/Tig) and fabrication experience.
Experience setting up and programming press brakes and rollers.
High attention to detail and strong quality focus.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a production environment.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
Preferred:
Experience with CNC laser cutting programming (Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, etc.).
ANSI/AWS D1 and/or ASME welding certifications.
NAVSEA or military-equivalent welding certifications.
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing practices.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds or more repetitively.
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
