SHEET METAL FABRICATOR (PLTX)

Bowhead seeks a Sheet Metal Fabricator to join ourManufacturing and Products Groupteam in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong fabrication and welding experience, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to quality and safety. This role requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust fabrication equipment including press brakes, laser cutter, slip rollers, band saws, and drill presses.

• Program and operate press brakes and rollers as required.

• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and finish/welding symbols to fabricate parts accurately.

• Perform welding and fabrication operations to meet company and customer specifications.

• Ensure all fabricated products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards.

• Follow Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, including proper documentation and process compliance.

• Maintain workflow in alignment with the production schedule and delivery timelines.

• Perform accurate material layouts, measurements, and calculations.

• Communicate project progress and any issues to management.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, technical certification a plus.

• Minimum three to five (3-5) years of experience in custom sheet metal manufacturing.

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.

• Solid understanding of GD&T principles.

• Proven welding (Mig/Tig) and fabrication experience.

• Experience setting up and programming press brakes and rollers.

• High attention to detail and strong quality focus.

• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

• Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a production environment.

• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety

Preferred:

• Experience with CNC laser cutting programming (Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, etc.).

• ANSI/AWS D1 and/or ASME welding certifications.

• NAVSEA or military-equivalent welding certifications.

• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing practices.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds or more repetitively.

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
