Department Summary
International Affairs is a guide and champion for campus internationalization at the University of North Texas. It is our mission to support the university's global endeavors and international initiatives. This position will be a part of the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) team. The ISSS Office at the University of North Texas provides compassionate immigration advice and support to UNT's 12,000 international students and scholars, and alumni.
Position Overview
Provide administrative and operational support to faculty, staff, and students on issues regarding admission, financial aid, registrar services, visa services, student life, advising, career counseling and academic services. Resolve routine issues of limited scope within own work area using general guidelines and standards or precedents as reference.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)
* Knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)
* Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgement based on an understanding of the organizational policies and activities.
* Strong teaching and presentation skills
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with various populations verbally and in writing and professionally represent the department and university
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public
* Ability to work independently within minimal supervision
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
