Description

Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. Record revenue and expense accruals, including payroll. Record and maintain fixed assets tracking. Responsible for the preparation of month-end journal entries (J/E's). Ensure that debt payments are made on a timely basis. Ensure monthly entries and closing are accurately performed and maintained. Work with compliance to ensure required audits of contractors and financial documents are completed and updated. Coordinate with division contract managers and communicate with contractors, subcontractors, and various levels of the LPS workforce. Prepare complex financial statements and provide financial analysis as needed. Serve as subject matter expert with accounting systems software and training to fiscal and other LPS staff. Works with accounting team to ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, accounts receivable are collected and properly applied, and payroll is processed in timely manner. Position serves as a backup for all monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification)

• Bachelor's degree in business and/or accounting is required.
• Five+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Preferences: Experience with a community MHMR, non-profit, or governmental accounting environment. Also, fixed assets and strong cost accounting skills.
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements prepared according to GAAP, business journals, technical procedures, governmental and grant regulations. Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to write business correspondence and routine reports. Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees, contractors, or customers. Ability to apply mathematical operations to financial statement preparation, test reliability and validity of data from several data systems. Employee must have knowledge of general accounting, payroll, and computer skills including highly skilled working with MS Excel and Blackbaud. Employee must be well organized and detail oriented.
