About the Role


In this position, you will lead plant maintenance operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all production equipment and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. This role oversees multi-craft technicians, planners, and parts room personnel while driving preventative, predictive, and reliability-based maintenance strategies that support food safety, quality, and operational excellence.


This position reports to the Plant Engineering Manager and partners closely with Utilities, Wastewater, Reliability Engineering, and Operations teams to maintain all plant assets in compliance with FDA, food safety, and OSHA regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and develop a maintenance team of planners, parts coordinators, and multi-craft technicians to execute planned and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for processing equipment, utilities, and facilities to maximize uptime and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain and continuously improve PM/PdM programs aligned with food manufacturing best practices.
  • Collaborate with operations and plant leadership to prioritize maintenance activities and support production goals.
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations to improve equipment reliability and prevent repeat failures.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on troubleshooting support during downtime and critical equipment failures.
  • Establish and track equipment reliability metrics using CMMS and data analysis tools.
  • Manage maintenance and MRO budgets, including spare parts strategy and inventory control.
  • Develop technician training, progression plans, and maintenance standard work.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety, quality, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, audits, and enforcement of safe work practices.
  • Support development of maintenance procedures, manuals, and training documentation.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs, including after-hours situations as required.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Reliability Engineering, or related field OR 10+ years of maintenance management experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and/or programming industrial controls (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred).


Preferred:


  • Proven experience with root cause analysis and reliability improvement in food or CPG manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams of up to 30 maintenance professionals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across operations, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for maintenance reporting and data analysis.
