Packaging Engineer

RTX's Supply Chain Logistics team is seeking a Packaging Engineer to support the Surveillance Logistics, McKinney Pack Ship department using requirements from contract/PO to generate packaging instructions. The candidate will utilize parametric modeling software to help design packaging and illustrate detailed packaging instructions.

What You Will Do

  1. Read, interpret, and convert contractual packaging requirements into written packaging instructions for packers to follow.
  2. Read and interpret military and commercial standards (Mil Std 2073, Mil Std 129, ASTM D 3951, etc.) to apply appropriate mechanical and preservation protection to ship military equipment domestically and overseas.
  3. Apply engineering principles to protect military equipment while in transit in the carrier networks and possible long term storage at customer destinations.
  4. Utilize software (Creo, MS PowerPoint, etc.) to illustrate detailed packaging steps.
  5. Work with packaging suppliers to design and procure required packaging and maintain packaging stock and purchase orders.
  6. Lead small to medium projects to pack logistically challenging military equipment, working with Packing/Shipping Teams and Manufacturing/Operations to maintain schedule.
  7. Ability to lift up to 28 lbs.
  8. This is a 1st shift, onsite position.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience with parametric modeling software (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (Packaging, Mechanical, Manufacturing or related field).
  • General industry experience and understanding of protocol in a defense company, including working with Government Furnished Material.
  • Experience modeling and managing drawings in Creo.
  • Import/Export Compliance experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic or intermediate knowledge of database structure and simple SQL queries to generate reports for metrics and data research.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
