Reports to the Patient Access Supervisor./ppSummary Of Essential Job Functions/pulliResponsible for registering patients for hospital services from a physicians office and pre-admitting these patients as needed./liliResponsible for admitting requirements for patients scheduled for admissions and outpatient procedures, obtaining authorization and verifying insurance eligibility./liliResponsible for interviewing patients or their representative, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information./liliProvides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, and HIPAA. Distributes hospital specific literature./liliResponsible, when previous arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, to collect such payments, record payment and forward to the Business Office personnel./liliResponsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available./liliDemonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations./liliTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients records./liliInteracts professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary./liliMaintains good working relationships both within the department and with other departments./liliEnsures that documentation meets current standards and policies./liliAnswers the telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family member./liliPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Patient Access Supervisor./li/ulpBasic Skills/pulliBasic computer knowledge./liliAbility to type accurately with speed/liliAble to use office machines efficiently/liliExcellent customer services skills./li/ulpEducation And Experience/pulliHigh School graduate or equivalent./liliPrefers someone who has at least 6 months experience in a medical office or hospital setting./li/ulpLanguage Skills/pulliAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing./liliAdditional language a plus/li/ulpPhysical Requirements/pulliMust be able to lift 40lbs./liliMust be able to stoop, bend, or sit for long periods of time./li/ulpEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
