Position Summary

Our engineering team builds Walmart's core AI platform, powering seamless, intelligent customer experiences at massive scale. We operate at the intersection of modern Python microservices, advanced cloud AI integrations, and top-tier observability practices. In this role, you'll collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust, efficient, and secure platform solutions directly influencing Walmart's digital transformation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design, implementation, and optimization of backend services for AI / ML workflows
  • Develop and scale LLM integration layers, vector search, and embedding pipelines
  • Oversee robust error handling, retries, caching, and observability (metrics, logging, tracing)
  • Drive code quality through reviews, testing, and CI / CD best practices
  • Partner on system architecture and technical decisions with engineering and product teams

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of advanced Python development (async / await); strong API experience (FastAPI, Django, or similar)
  • Proven experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and vector databases
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS) and distributed systems
  • Strong testing background (pytest / unit / integration); observability tooling proficiency
  • Familiarity with front-end development (JavaScript / HTML) and security best practices for AI platforms

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
