Hims & Hers seeks an experienced, self-motivated, and results-driven Engineering Manager. The candidate must be a leader, have a strong process architecture mindset and system implementation experience, and have the ability to grow engineering teams. In this role, you will work closely with technical program managers, product managers and business sponsors to deliver systems, process, and platform solutions to meet Hims & Hers business needs for our customer platform and operations. You will also be instrumental in ensuring our backend systems are robust, scalable, and flexible for the needs of our growing, fast-paced business.
Lead and develop a team of engineers within the Customer Platform (focused on Store), fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.
Coach and mentor engineering teams in Agile, Lean, and DevOps best practices, instilling a culture of iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and shared ownership.
Define technical strategy and execution plans aligned with business goals, focusing on innovation, reliability, scalability, and quality of our platform.
Drive alignment across squads and cross-functional partners to deliver on key initiatives while managing competing priorities.
Scale the architecture and systems with long-term growth and performance in mind, anticipating technical trends and integrating emerging best practices, with a strong focus on evolutionary architecture to ensure adaptability and continuous improvement.
Design and implement process improvements, enhancing productivity and delivery velocity.
Champion engineering standards and ensure robust assurance practices in a modern, agile environment.
Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and other cross-functional partners to influence product roadmaps and customer-centric solutions.
Mentor and develop engineers, with a focus on succession planning, leadership growth, and building a strong technical bench.
Manage staffing strategy, trade-offs that balance resources, technical debt, and innovation.
Represent engineering in cross-functional and executive-level forums, effectively communicating strategy, status, and trade-offs.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees or equivalent experience a plus).
7+ years of experience in development, with a strong background in backend systems
Ideally 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin or other OOP languages and web frameworks
Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling applications with a focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience.
Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsable to translate strategy into clear execution plans.
Adept at balancing speed and quality, and creating a culture of continuous improvement and ownership.
Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and the ability to advocate for technical priorities in organizational-level planning.
