Payroll Specialist

Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Plano, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full payroll cycle , ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll and taxation, with at least 5 years of experience, preferably within the real estate and construction industry.


Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll, including hourly, salaried, and commissioned staff.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and submission of all payroll taxes, including federal, state (Texas), and local filings.
  • Manage and reconcile quarterly and annual tax reporting (941, 940, W-2, 1099, etc.).
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, including prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements where applicable.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure proper processing of benefits, deductions, and employee classifications.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, tax withholdings, and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required payroll documentation.
  • Stay current on Texas payroll regulations and construction-specific compliance requirements.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in real estate, construction, or a related industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas payroll laws and taxation.
  • Experience with prevailing wage, certified payroll, or multi-project payrolls a plus.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (SAP, ADP, Paycom, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred but not required.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
