To support the G. Brint Ryan College of Business by providing academic counseling, career counseling, referrals and degree program advising to undergraduate business majors and prospective business majors in individual and group sessions. This includes involvement in implementation of programs designed to recruit new students, increase student retention and participation in general degree advising activities as needed (preparation of degree plans, evaluation of transcripts, processing graduation applications and public relations).
This position will be based at UNTs regional campus located in Frisco, Texas. UNT at Frisco supports over 20 undergraduate and graduate degrees and more than 3,100 students. This position is a hybrid position officing at the Frisco campus, Denton campus with some remote days.
Master's Degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.
Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate). Current knowledge of student development and counseling theory. Strong presentation, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong counseling skills including career development and group facilitation. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently. Remains active in professional development.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in records and documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a student-centered approach. Collaborative mindset and ability to contribute positively to team dynamics. Adaptability to changing priorities and openness to feedback. Dependable, accountable, and proactive in problem-solving. Familiarity with or willingness to learn Denton and Frisco campus operations.
