This position is responsible for providing design support to engineers for Water/Wastewater pipeline and facility projects.

Responsibilities

  • Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software.
  • Conduct field investigations as needed.
  • Prepare material quantity take-off and estimates using computer-generated quantity take-off estimates, including 3-dimensional quantities like excavation and grading.
  • Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles, and cross-sections as well as draft design engineering drawings.
  • Develop construction documents showing mechanical plan and cross-sectional views, inside-the-fence piping, process units, in-plant hydraulic profiles and P&IDs.
  • Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings, and file names for sheet layout.
  • Handle AutoCAD transfers.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Inform Project Manager(s) of progress on assigned projects and request work when needed.
  • Maintain an organized work area to allow access to project information by other team members.
  • Flexible in work assignments and team assignments.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • 6 years' experience in civil design.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD-Civil 3D.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues, clients, and public agency officials.
  • Self-starter.
  • Ability to work interdependently within a team environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and track and prioritize workload.
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or daily as changes occur in project needs.
  • Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime.
