Job Summary
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) plays a key role in the collection and preparation of blood specimens for laboratory analysis while delivering exceptional patient care. This position represents the company in patient-facing interactions, ensuring procedures are performed safely, accurately, and with compassion. The PSR II may rotate across multiple sites as needed and serves as a resource for newer phlebotomy staff.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture, capillary, and specimen collection procedures per established protocols
Conduct verification of patient identity and labeling at time of collection
Maintain accurate documentation and specimen integrity
Provide a safe, professional, and compassionate patient experience
Adhere to all company and regulatory health and safety standards
Travel to assigned or backup locations as required
Support training and mentorship of new staff where needed
Ensure compliance with infection control and laboratory standards
Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary draws
At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
Proven ability to manage high patient volumes with accuracy and professionalism
Nice-to-Have Experience
Prior customer service experience in a retail or healthcare environment
Experience supporting multi-site or mobile phlebotomy operations
Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and specimen tracking
Required Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory in CA, NV, WA only)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if traveling between sites)
Required Skills
Strong phlebotomy technique with diverse patient populations
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Computer proficiency and data entry accuracy
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Preferred Skills
Proficiency with laboratory management or scheduling software
Knowledge of specimen handling and processing procedures
Ability to assist in troubleshooting workflow or quality issues
Additional Details
High-volume pediatric experience required
Flexible and reliable for occasional coverage at nearby locations
