Overview

Bilingual Insurance Educator- Denver, CO (Remote/Hybrid) role at DaVita Kidney Care. This vital, patient-centric role provides education and guidance to DaVita patients about health insurance and the implications of different insurance options. The Insurance Educator helps patients understand their insurance options and make informed employment and insurance decisions. The position requires emotional maturity and professionalism to interact with patients, clinical teammates, billing office teammates, and senior leadership, and to work with cross-functional DaVita teams.

The Insurance Educator aims to alleviate the stress that dialysis patients often experience in navigating insurance options and employment decisions while managing their health care needs. The role emphasizes customer service, trust building with patients and teammates, and developing expertise in motivational interviewing and knowledge of commercial and government health insurance benefits, financial assistance programs, and work leave options.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Patient Education (Telephonic/In-person) and responsibilities within established compliance parameters for the company and program
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve patients insurance status, alleviating financial risk and burden
  • Provide information to help patients find and/or secure options for insurance coverage and other financial assistance programs
  • Complete insurance assessments/evaluations for patients
  • Document and classify patient education sessions accurately
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to ensure educational needs are met
  • Act as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing office and corporate office to resolve insurance issues
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and trainings; may assist with onboarding and training of new teammates
  • Partner with supervisor/manager to meet objectives, deadlines and reporting/measurement requirements; review trends with team and leadership
  • Build and maintain relationships with field partners (e.g., Insurance Counselors, Facility Administrators, Social Workers, Administrative Assistants) to ensure seamless patient support
  • Participate in Team/Department/Village-wide Improvement Projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Education And Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is required

Specialized Experience, Education, Training, Or Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in customer service, healthcare organization, insurance company or related field (preferred)
  • Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in MS Word and Outlook
  • Beginner proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the healthcare industry/organization with clinical teams and patients (preferred)
  • Extensive understanding of insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity), COBRA, medical leave, ADA, Coordination of Benefits, and federal/state health coverage related to ESRD (preferred)
  • Experience in case management and/or social work (preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish (strongly preferred)

Nights/Weekends: Occasional optional Saturdays. Occasional optional evening events.

Compensation

The Wage Range for the role is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. For location-specific details, see DaVita wage information. Compensation depends on qualifications and experience.
