Job Summary: The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization for patients undergoing lab testing. This role requires drawing high-quality blood samples, ensuring accurate labeling and handling, and maintaining a safe, professional environment. PSR IIs interact directly with patients, demonstrating strong communication, confidentiality, and leadership behaviors while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks accurately and punctually.
Draw blood specimens from patients while following all established safety and procedural guidelines.
Create a comfortable environment by clearly explaining procedures to patients.
Verify patient identification and label specimens in the presence of the patient.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Work independently with minimal supervision in a high-volume setting.
Provide backup coverage for multiple locations with minimal notice.
Travel between locations as needed and comply with dress code and safety standards.
Promote a positive image to patients, coworkers, and the public.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment.
Previous customer service experience in retail or service industries.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
Required Skills:
Excellent phlebotomy techniques across all age groups
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Capable of handling high volumes and multiple priorities
Preferred Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training
Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA)
Superior customer focus and communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly and embrace change
Additional Skills:
Ability to make informed decisions based on procedures
Reliable transportation with valid driver's license and clean driving record
Flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
Adherence to company dress code and Employee Health & Safety policies
Training availability based on trainer schedule
