Homebound Teacher; General Education/Section 504 INTERNAL APPLICANTSJob Status: OPEN Posting Date: 12/03/2024 Posting Number: 009638 Location: Special Services Position Title: Homebound Teacher; General Education/Section 504 INTERNAL APPLICANTS Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports To: Section 504 Coordinator & Executive Director of Special ServicesPrimary Purpose:To ensure that every homebound child in the district capable of benefiting from instruction be provided with an on-going educational program.Qualifications: Education/Certification:* Bachelor's degree in EducationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:* Knowledge of Section 504 Student Services Plans (SSP), specialized accommodations and STAAR accommodations* General knowledge of curriculum and instruction* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Experience:* Experience in working with parents of Section 504 students preferred* Three years' experience in teaching students preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:* Works with the campus administrator/Section 504 Coordinator/District 504 Coordinator to identify the educational needs and the physical and learning capabilities of those students assigned to him/her.* Implements, with the advice of the student's regular teacher or teachers, an instructional program for each assigned student receiving homebound instruction on a temporary basis.* Meets with each assigned student on a regularly scheduled basis for the purpose of providing instruction.* Acquires personal acquaintanceship with the student's parents or guardians and works to establish with them an understanding and cooperative relationship based on the student's individual needs.* Files written progress reports on each assigned student with the student's parents or guardians and, in the case of students temporarily assigned, with their regular teacher or teachers.* Keeps, maintains, and files such reports and records as required, including attendance reports, instructional report, and the like.* Assumes responsibility for obtaining materials necessary through the procedures established.* Interprets the program for the homebound to the regular district staff and to the community at large as required.* Keeps informed in a systematic way of trends and new methods in education, remaining always alert to possibilities inherent in such information for adaptation to the particular needs of homebound instruction.* Performs other duties as the Superintendent may assign.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Customer Care Skills:* Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.* Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly.
