Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lead HVAC Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance as well as troubleshooting and servicing industrial HVAC systems in both acute care and non-acute care hospital environments. You'll conduct tests and analyze data to ensure equipment functionality while providing insights on remaining life expectancy and costs associated with repairs or replacements. Our ideal candidate will maintain all systems per HCA Healthcare Engineering standards, aiming for optimal efficiency and minimal interruption to services. High-level organization skills and accurate maintenance record-keeping are essential, as is effective communication with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Mentoring and training of apprentices is a welcomed aspect of this role.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on chilled water and air handling units.
  • Conduct cleaning of coils, filter changes, and calibrations as required.
  • Supervise apprentice HVAC technicians in diagnosis and repair of multi-zone systems.
  • Create estimates for costs and downtime for equipment repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure all work meets industry standards and comply with safety regulations.
  • Accurately document all service and maintenance activities in our computerized system.
  • Interact clearly and professionally with management regarding equipment status.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial, industrial, or healthcare setting is required.

Licensure, Certifications, Training:

  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification is required (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • A valid Driver's License in good standing is required.
