Job DescriptionDenton Texas Public SchoolThrive program for students with special needs at the Thrive Center For Success, which offers special education services, often including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and employs Special Education Paraprofessionals (PABS) to support students with autism and other needsSPED Diagnostician job description entails conducting comprehensive educational and psychological assessments, analyzing data to determine eligibility for special education services, developing individualized education programs (IEPs), and collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators. Key duties include interpreting assessment results, observing students, and recommending appropriate interventions, all while ensuring compliance with federal and state special education laws. Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment:Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments to evaluate students' intellectual, academic, and behavioral functioning.Data Analysis:Collect and synthesize data from various sources, including formal tests, observations, interviews, and records, to identify student needs.IEP Development:Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to interpret assessment data, determine student eligibility for special education services, and assist in developing appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Intervention Planning:Make recommendations for educational strategies, behavioral management plans, and interventions to support students with disabilities.Collaboration:Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student needs, provide guidance, and ensure effective implementation of special education services.Reporting:Compile comprehensive reports that include test results, data analysis, and programming recommendations for ARD meetings and other purposes.Compliance:Ensure all actions and programs comply with federal and state laws and regulations, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).Observation:Observe students in classroom settings to understand their learning approaches and responses to instruction.Key Skills & QualificationsExpertise in Learning Disabilities:A deep understanding of learning disabilities, teaching methods, and assessment tools.Strong Communication Skills:The ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.Analytical Skills:The ability to interpret and synthesize complex assessment data to make sound recommendations.Knowledge of Regulations:In-depth knowledge of state and federal education laws and special education regulations.Organizational Skills:Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.Education/Certification:Typically requires a master's degree in educational assessment and a valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate.
