Akkodis is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and optimize our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about automation, infrastructure as code, and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions.


Senior Cloud Engineer – Infrastructure & Observability

Employment Type

• Contract-to-Hire (6 months)

• Open to C2C? NO

• Length of Contract: 2-6 months before conversion

Compensation:

• Pay Rate: $62-75/hr

• Salary if DH or CTH: $130-150K (experience taken into consideration)

• Benefits (401K, PTO, perks, etc)

LOCATION DETAILS

• 2-3 days hybrid

• 7440 State Hwy 121, McKinney, TX 75070

• Onsite during quarterly meetings and collaboration sessions with leadership required.



Interview Process: 2 rounds

• 1st round:30 minute interview

• 2nd round onsite


INTAKE NOTES/ABOUT THE ROLE:


• Hybrid cloud-first infrastructure (Azure-heavy), with limited on-prem (ERP/data center)

• Team is under-resourced; Manager needs more support for cloud/platform engineering responsibilities.

Observability Project:

• Leading engineering side of New Relic (currently doing POV).

• Set up APIs, integrate with cloud provider, ensure environments are properly monitored, thresholds defined, and tickets generated.

• Engage with New Relic resources.

• Azure Cloud Engineering:

• Deploy and manage Azure resources using pipelines.

• Build integrations with ServiceNow ITSM (catalogs, automated resource provisioning).

• Provide Tier 3 support for Azure.

• Own all Azure deployments across the enterprise.

• Automation & Infrastructure as Code:

• Heavy use of Terraform for provisioning.

• Ensure coding standards are followed (clean, creative, not repetitive).


TOP REQUIRED SKILLS:

• SR. level of Cloud Engineering (Azure focus): Infrastructure, domains, on-prem server concepts.

• Azure DevOps & GitHub: Must know pull request process and concepts.

• Terraform: Hands-on coding/scripting (admin-level minimum).

• APIs: Experience building/integrating APIs, thinking outside the box.

• Scripting: Bash or Python strongly preferred; PowerShell acceptable too

• Cloud Networking: Understanding of NSGs and networking fundamentals.

• Observability: Familiarity with concepts (not day-to-day monitoring).


Preferred Skills:

• Terraform (big plus)

• Ansible: Not required

• Kubernetes: Nice-to-have (limited deployments, not heavy use)

• New Relic: REALLY Nice-to-have (not mandatory)


Must skills

• Azure infrastructure/cloud engineering experience.

• Hands-on Terraform + scripting (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).

• API integration experience.

• Azure DevOps/GitHub knowledge.

• Networking fundamentals (NSGs).

• Bonus: Exposure to New Relic, ServiceNow ITSM, Kubernetes.

Soft Skills:

• Clear communication with application owners, PMs, and cross-functional teams.

• Collaborative and resourceful problem solver.

• Comfortable wearing multiple hats (observability + engineering + support).




Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering roles, delivering scalable infrastructure and automation across diverse environments.

• Strong proficiency in Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Terragrunt, including advanced module development and reusable patterns.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred—and cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes and Docker.

• Solid grasp of cloud networking concepts: routing, firewall configurations, DNS, and architecture.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

• Strong experience with CI/CD tools and practices, version control systems, and automation pipelines.

• Hands-on experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana.

• Strong understanding of telemetry data: logs, metrics, traces, and events.

• Familiarity with APM (Application Performance Monitoring) and distributed tracing tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry).

• Knowledge of network monitoring protocols and tools (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Wireshark).

• Experience integrating observability tools with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) and understanding of incident response workflows, escalation policies, and on-call support.

• Ability to automate alerting, dashboard creation, and data ingestion pipelines.

• Strong analytical skills to interpret telemetry data and derive actionable insights.

• Ability to build custom dashboards and reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Proactive problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
