Position Overview

For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator (Career Coach) to join the College of Science team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students, by working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Science. Facilitating individual coaching, groups, workshops, and seminars. Partnering with academic advisors and counselors in the college to support internship goals for their assigned department, working with the Career Center internship specialist to assist with ensuring that available internships meet all departmental requirements for credit and the students that apply are eligible for the internship. Cultivate and manage relationships with current and new employers recruiting students from assigned department, in partnership with the assigned department and the UNT Career Center. Lead job market research efforts for their assigned area, in order to provide current and relevant data to faculty and students. Work directly with student organizations in making connections for career related presentations and/or recommending industry speakers/mentors. Contribute to the Career Centers assessment of career programs and services. Provide marketing of career services to students and faculty in the assigned department.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Experience in career services, Human Resources or hiring responsibility in industry or nonprofit organizations.
