Department Summary
The First Generation Success Center at the University of North Texas (UNT) is a vibrant, student-focused department committed to empowering and supporting students who are the first in their families to attend college. Our mission is to foster a sense of belonging, increase academic success, and promote graduation and beyond for UNT's first-gen student population.
The Emerald Eagle Scholars Program is a signature student success initiative at the University of North Texas designed to support academically talented students with high financial need-many of whom are first-generation college students. Through a comprehensive blend of financial support, mentoring, community engagement, and academic enrichment, the program empowers students to stay on track, graduate on time, and become impactful leaders.
Through innovative programming, personalized mentoring, campus partnerships, and advocacy, the Center provides holistic support tailored to the unique experiences of first-generation students and the Emerald Eagle Scholars program. We serve as a welcoming space that encourages growth, connection, and self-discovery.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for the initiation, development, and coordination of student-centered programs with campus wide impact. Position is responsible for implementation and management of program(s) and related activities/events, budget management, program assessment, and serving as the primary program liaison.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
