Job Details

The Forensic Technician II performs technical investigative work for the assigned Department. Work involves examining physical evidence, such as fingerprints and firearm ballistics, to develop facts pertinent to criminal investigations. Employee is also responsible for reconstructing crime scenes, photographing evidence, preparing court exhibits, and providing testimony. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work. Examples of Duties Performs a variety of complex, independent laboratory tests; analyses, classifications, comparisons, and identifications of all types of physical evidence from crime scenes with emphasis and specific recognized expertise in latent fingerprint examination. Examines and evaluates evidence and determines techniques and procedures to be used in the development of latent prints on diverse items of physical evidence by using physical, chemical, and optical or any combination of techniques appropriate to the substance being examined.
