About the job System Engineer

Our client, a forward-thinking organization, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled System Engineer to lead the engineering requirement translation, specification, and implementation of projects across the entire system design for their products. The System Engineer will play a critical role in the design and integration of custom software and hardware for controlling automated testing systems. This position also involves system integration, troubleshooting, interfacing with customers, and occasionally providing on-site support for delivered systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Leadership:

    • Take ownership of all technical aspects of test and measurement systems from project conception to completion.
    • Manage a cross-functional team of Applications Engineers and Design Engineers for hardware interfaces in various tester platforms.
    • Provide direction, coordination, planning, and organization to the overall Engineering Design Team assigned to a specific project.
  2. Requirements and Compliance:

    • Capture all customer requirements and specifications for the scope of design and compliance.
    • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests from both customers and manufacturing.
    • Review and approve product specifications and customer user documentation for the product.
    • Understand and ensure proper documentation under industry standards (e.g., IPC standards) for all system components.
  3. Technical Expertise:

    • Analyze data, present test results, and initiate system design changes as required for robustness and performance improvements.
    • Diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions.
  4. Work Ethic and Project Management:

    • Take ownership of goals, project schedules, and milestones.
    • Ensure a high level of attention to detail and commitment to meeting project schedules.
    • Be willing to continually take on new and challenging tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience to achieve a sufficient level of proficiency and independence for this position.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards and experience with a high-level programming language.
  • Proficiency in circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across different disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Passion for learning about and working with test and measurement industry technologies.
  • Ability to quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and commercial off-the-shelf components.
  • Strong multitasking skills for concurrent projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Capable of working effectively in a group development environment.
  • Strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
