Position Summary
The Payroll & Benefits Accountant will play a pivotal role in bridging the Human Resources and Accounting functions at Texas Regional Bank. This position is responsible for managing all accounting tasks that interface with HR, including 401(k) payroll reconciliation, commissions, bonus and equity calculations, budgeting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all related processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee 401(k) payroll reconciliation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Supports payroll tasks, multi-state payrolls, and benefits reconciliations.
• Calculate and process commissions, bonuses, and equity distributions accurately.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to develop and manage budgets.
• Prepare, analyze and monitor financial reports related to HR activities.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations in all accounting processes
• Support audits and provide necessary documentation for HR-related financial activities
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
• Provide support for payroll processing and benefits administration as needed.

• Highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience in banking or other financial institutions preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on HR-related functions.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
• Familiarity with 401(k) regulations and compliance standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced, high volume, work environment with accuracy and minimal supervision.
• Display a positive team working attitude with associates in all departments.
• Must have strong computer skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
