Hours: Monday - Friday 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM

An Afterschool Group Leader is essential in providing a safe, engaging, bully-free, and fun environment for children while implementing planned activities.

Requirements

  • Must meet Texas Health and Human Services state license standards, including passing background checks.
  • Minimum age: 18 years; Education: High School Degree/G.E.D. or higher
  • Previous childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Complete required childcare training aligned with the YMCA, Texas Health and Human Services, Texas Workforce, and Texas Rising Star.
  • Keep an accurate daily count of children and follow policies to ensure each child's safety.
  • Report incidents, accidents, or suspected child abuse to the supervisor and complete reports accordingly.
  • Assist with safety drills and implement emergency procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and lead group activities.
  • Stand and walk for long periods, carry at least 30 pounds, and transition easily between sitting and standing.
  • Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity based on children's interests and talents.
  • Portray a positive role model with respect, patience, integrity, and courtesy.
  • Maintain strong communication with YMCA personnel and parents.
