Hours: Monday - Friday 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM

An Afterschool Group Leader plays a crucial role in providing a safe, engaging, bully-free, and fun environment for children, implementing daily activities as planned.

Requirements

  • Must meet Texas Health and Human Services state license standards, including passing background checks.
  • Minimum age: 18 years; Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D. or higher
  • Previous childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Complete required childcare training aligned with YMCA, Texas Health and Human Services, Texas Workforce, and Texas Rising Star.
  • Keep accurate daily attendance records and follow policies to ensure each child's safety.
  • Report staff or child incidents, accidents, or suspected abuse according to policy.
  • Assist with safety drills and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and lead group activities.
  • Stand and walk for long periods; carry at least 30 pounds; move easily between sitting and standing.
  • Encourage creativity and curiosity based on children's interests and talents.
  • Model positive behavior with respect, patience, integrity, and courtesy.
  • Maintain positive relationships with YMCA staff and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
