Position Description:

The Security Cloud Engineer will support the Cybersecurity Team by assisting Gwinnett County Security staff in protecting county systems. This role involves developing and enhancing Microsoft Defender products and various other cloud-based security solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience with various Microsoft Cloud Products.
  2. Professional experience in cloud security or engineering with AWS or Azure.
  3. Understanding of network architecture.
  4. Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills.
  5. Bachelor's degree in information systems, security, computer science, engineering, or a related field, with 4+ years of security experience; or 8+ years of security experience without a degree.
  6. Experience deploying policies for servers and networks via Intune.
  7. General understanding of security principles and ability to identify improvements in network design and security tools.
  8. Experience managing Microsoft Cloud products like Microsoft DLP, Defender for Cloud, Intune, and Defender for Servers.
  9. Experience with vulnerability management tools and email gateway protection.
  10. Knowledge of emerging enterprise IT and cybersecurity technologies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implement, manage, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot security systems such as DLP, Defender Endpoint Protection, Azure security solutions, and data security/auditing platforms.
  2. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to promote security and cloud service adoption within the County.
  3. Analyze and audit systems and processes for compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
  4. Design secure Azure Cloud solutions for data and storage.
  5. Automate security processes as needed.
  6. Collaborate with system architects and application teams to design secure solutions.
  7. Recommend and implement improvements based on audit findings.
