Weston is seeking a Senior Professional Mechanical Engineer with a background in mechanical or civil engineering required for water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, pressurized systems, and piping design. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience in the design of new and renovated systems and possess leadership experience working with remediation systems, industrial treatment, manufacturing operations, and drinking water. The selected candidate will have a proven track record leading teams in multidisciplinary designs and field commissioning, with a strong sense of community learning and mentorship.

Location:

Various Offices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio or Dallas, Texas; West Chester, PA; Chicagoland Area, IL; or Concord, NH (remote considered for very strong applicants only)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 15 years related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with active NCEES account and ability to obtain registration in additional states as required.
  • Knowledge and experience working for drinking water facilities, wastewater treatment and conveyance, remediation systems, energy providers, and government clients.
  • Knowledge in conveyance piping design and pressurized piping design experience in manufacturing facilities, including calculating pump sizes, transient pressures, forces, pipe flow, and head loss.
  • Familiarity with environmental consulting, permitting, and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of analysis tools and modeling software to evaluate pipe networks and mechanical systems. Understanding of CAD programs including AutoDesk Civil 3D, REVIT, and Plant3D is a plus.
  • Experience preparing, issuing, evaluating, and negotiating construction bids for private and government projects.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills for report writing, proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Able to develop scopes of work, obtain and evaluate quotes, and manage subcontractors and vendors.
  • Able to respond to RFPs with technical approaches and competitive pricing.
  • Ability to supervise engineering staff on design and technical tasks.
  • Possess (or able to obtain) security clearance for Federal facilities.
  • Willing to perform site visits and bid walks with effective note-taking and field markups.

Expected Outcomes:

  • The Senior Professional Engineer is responsible for all engineering work requiring their seal or under their leadership, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
  • Adherence to Weston Engineering Design Quality Manual and guiding project teams in responsibilities and expectations.
  • Participate as a leader in relevant competencies and maintain mentorship relationships.
  • Establish a contact list for project and program management to support project and proposal efforts.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses for project design conformance.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist Project Managers in estimating, tracking costs, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Develop leadership in design within the organization.
  • Coordinate data evaluation, engineering designs, and specifications.
  • Perform quality control checks on designs.
  • Lead proposal efforts and project cost development.
  • Engage in professional societies and interact with clients on project tasks.

Salary Range: $96,500 - $128,900 - $161,000
