Department Summary

The Office of Admissions is a vital contributor to the enrollment success at the University of North Texas through student outreach, recruitment endeavors, and a commitment to providing personalized assistance to students throughout the college application and admissions process.

Position Overview

The Office of Admissions, at the University of North Texas, is seeking to hire an Associate Director, who is fluent in Spanish, to assist in all strategic and operational activities for the recruitment of students under the direction of the Sr Director, Admissions Recruitment and Outreach. This position will oversee the partnership with the Consulate of Mexico, at Dallas, the Ventanilla Orientacin Educativa, while collaborating to advise visitors and members of the North Texas Community about the P-20 education pipeline. The Associate Director will direct efforts to increase the entire university new undergraduate student enrollment from the Dallas County Region.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years' of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of university admissions standards, policies, and procedures, and special admissions procedures or ability to quickly assimilate, knowledge of university curriculum and academic policies and procedures, and of the training and qualifications needed to perform university academic work satisfactorily.
• Strong written and oral communications skills and strong presentation and counseling skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and students and parents from a diverse population.
• Ability to supervise, train, and plan work of subordinates.
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
• Skill in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office and/or other software.
• Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
• Ability to obtain personal credit card for travel reimbursement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred
• Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal)

Job Duties:

• Hire and supervise admissions recruitment staff and student employees. Assist with training and development with Admissions Recruitment and Outreach to full-time staff and student employees.
• Develop and maintain relationships with high school and community college partners. Oversee recruitment and outreach activities to assist students and parents through the entire P-20 pipeline.
• Collaborate with peers and campus partners to implement new recruitment and outreach activities that align with office enrollment strategies.
• Serve as Liaison between Consulate of Mexico at Dallas and UNT.
• Work with Sr. Director to developing strategic initiatives to recruit, enroll, and retain under-served student populations at UNT. Also oversee bilingual recruitment and outreach initiatives in Spanish.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; occasional overtime and weekends
